Trump to make a decision on Iran within two weeks

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt stated that Iran possesses all the necessary components for a nuclear weapon, requiring only a decision from its supreme leader to proceed. This warning comes as President Donald Trump has set a two-week deadline to decide on potential U.S. military action against Iran. Leavitt, reading a statement from the president, indicated that while Trump prefers diplomacy, he is considering military intervention in consultation with the National Security Council, as reported by POLITICO, given the U.S. unique capability to dismantle Iran’s nuclear program. Leavitt emphasized that if Iran decides to produce a weapon, it would take “a couple of weeks,” posing an existential threat globally. These remarks follow a week of escalating tensions between Israel and Iran, during which Trump held multiple Situation Room meetings and left the G7 conference early. The conflict has created divisions within Trump’s coalition, but Leavitt affirmed Trump’s consistent stance on preventing Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons, reiterating his willingness to use strength if diplomacy fails and highlighting the unparalleled capabilities of the U.S. military. Leavitt did not comment on whether the president seeks regime change in Iran.
